The 2009 State Convention of the Socialist Party of Michigan will be held Saturday August 8th in the Pond Room of the Michigan Union building at the campus of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. The State Convention is the highest ranking body of the Socialist Party of Michigan and is empowered to amend the SPMI State By-Laws and State Platform, adopt, amend, or repeal State Convention resolutions, and elect the SPMI State Executive Committee. Since 2009 is a Socialist Party USA National Convention year, the State Convention will also adopt SPMI-sponsored proposals for, and elect SPMI delegates to, the 2009 Socialist Party National Convention in October.
The State Convention will begin at 10AM and last until 6PM. The Michigan Union is located at: 530 S. State St. Ann Arbor, MI 48104. The Michigan Union is located at 530 S. Directions to the Michigan Union:
-From Detroit/Dearborn (Heading West): Take I-94 West to the State Street exit (Exit 177). Turn right (north). Continue on State Street approximately 2 miles to the main campus area. The Michigan Union will be on your left.
-From Detroit Heading West (via I-96):Take I-96 to M-14 West. Follow M-14 West signs closely. Take Exit #3, called Downtown Ann Arbor; this will become Main Street. Follow Main Street to William Street. Take a left at William Street. Continue down William Street until it ends at State St. Take a right on State Street. The Michigan Union will be on your left.
